Thanks Brian. I'll give it a shot.

I once had a similar problem where some, but not all, services would stop
and could not be restarted. This was back when we were on sp4, and
re-installing the service pack solved it.

Subject: Re NT Server Services

I wonder if anyone has come across of a situation in an NT4 domain
environment whereby, if the NT4 domain controller, which is a files/print
server, has not been restarted for a week or so it flags status of all
services in the Services applet in Control Panel as "disabled".

Subsequent to this, services can only be stopped and NOT restarted. If you
attempt to restart it fails to do so, with no specific errors. The only way
to correct this is to reboot server.

the server is a compaq Pentium Xeon server with NT 4.0 (sp6a), plenty of
memory and HDD space. Any ideas.

Thanks in advance

Mustafa Ibrahim
