I once had a similar problem where some, but not all, services would stop and could not be restarted. This was back when we were on sp4, and re-installing the service pack solved it. The only way to correct this is to reboot server. the server is a compaq Pentium Xeon server with NT 4.0 (sp6a), plenty of memory and HDD space. Any ideas.
