We are using our Exchange server to directly send outgoing e-mail through our router/firewall. Sometimes a message fails to reach its destination because of what is reported as network errors. It is not consistently reproducible. That is, that some of the e-mail servers we have problems with will sometimes accept a message from us. The event log reports event 3010 (An attempt to connect to host xxx failed. ) from the internet mail connector. When I trace the SMTP session it always fits the pattern below. The destination servers fit no pattern.
