Hi all, I mentioned earlier a Korean MSX2 (Daewoo CPC-400S), with a lightpen-connection built in. Some of you got excited, and said: why not hook this to my MSX? Just a couple of wires to the VDP.... There's a couple of things I forgot to mention here: -I don't think you can do this with the MSX-1 VDP, at least not in the same way (apart from other ways of hooking up light-pens). -In the V9958 (MSX 2+), this function is deleted. 'uninteresting'? Anyway, from V9938 -> V9958: composite video output and mouse/lightpen interface deleted, the signal pins involved used for something different. So this hooking up of a lightpen directly to the VDP, only goes with a V9938 (MSX-2) Not that MSX-1 matters much in this repect... About using a V9990 for this: I wouldn't know... Need any software for it? Just debug any MSX-2 subROM, I think light-pen software is built in the same BIOS-routine(s) handling the mouse, and paddles, and graphic tablets, and ....lightpens (if any). Interesting thought: Maybe there already exists some software using such a lightpen (via these BIOS-routines), just nobody knows, because these lightpens are not around that much....
