I made longer sectors on a floppy once, as an attempt to create a copy
protection. They were read without problems by the 8250, but on turbo R,
only the first 512 bytes were read. 
The difference is in the diskROM. This has probably something to do with
the way the drive controller (FDC) works. Someone from NOP told me that
programming TraxPlayer for turbo R was difficult because it didn't have an
"end of sector indicator bit", like the 8250 and many other models have.

I have never seen a device with sectors other than 512 bytes in length. I
don't think we should consider supporting it.
