It is the copy protection. If you play a copied Xak2 this is the effect.
This kind of protection is more difficult to find then a red screen
saying "This is a copy". So copiers think that everything went well, and
hackers will have to do a lot more searching to crack it. (and maybe at
other locations in the game other things will happen that wont allow you
to finish the game ?)
