Hi there,

VDP's are used a lot in other systems, to name one example that I have
experience with: I had a IBM-compatible XT from SpectraVideo (Was it called
X-press?) and it had a V9938 in there. The operating system was MS-dos, it
had a version of GW-basic that was extended to use the VDP. Sprites though
weren't supported by that basic. To get sprites, I had to program the VDP
directly, which was a lot of fun. Great about it was that the power of the
VDP was combined with a 16-bit processor and a 640kB memory (now banks to
switch, segments though). I got rid of it later when I bought a 386 and a
turboR, and I regret the fact that I did.
