Hans,
> How about PCX? (...)
I'm thinking in a file format specifically for MSX screens.
PCX is a file format for B&W, Gray, 16, 256 and 16M colors. I'm
talking in a graphical file format that knows the MSX screens, for
example you can compress the pallete of 16 colors mode (SCR5 and SCR7)
in only 18 bytes (9 bits for each color), I don't know how PCX stores
the palette but BMP files uses 4 bytes[1] for each color, i.e., 64
bytes.
A 256 color mode don't need to store the pallete, because we only
have one pallete. We can save SCR6 pictures (4 colors!) without stuff
the file. Work w/ 32 greyshades screens (only the 'Y' of SCR12) or use
a 19K or 12K color modes. And of course we can save pictures in SCR2/4
and SCR3 too.

I know your utilities but I'm not thinking in interchange. I'm
thinking in a file format to work in MSX. For interchange I can use
any file format
