I uploaded newsonic.arj to ftp.funet.fi (directory 'pub/msx/othersys')
I'll include the first part of 'newsonic.txt' here for information,
because I think a number of people will be interested in seeing that
program...

NEWSONIC v0.2beta
-----------------

INTRODUCTION

NewSonic was (or is) supposed to be a music program for the PC. It is
made by Jeff Timmer, who MSX users may know as a former FCS member.
Jeff started NewSonic because he had never seen a music program on the
PC that really supported FM.

At this time of writing (October 1996), NewSonic has not been touched
by Jeff for about a year. Even though the program is far from
complete, I persuaded him to make a somewhat workable 'demoversion',
because I have the feeling that some people would like to have a look
at it. The main reason is: you can import MoonBlaster (MBM) music
into NewSonic. Even though this is in a far from ideal state, so most
MBM musics sound ugly, some people will probably find it fun to check
the program out.

And who knows... If people really like the program, Jeff could be
persuaded to put some more work into it. If you have any comments, or
have a use for the sourcecode (written in Borland Pascal 6.0 using
TurboVision, and parts in Assembler), write. Jeff's e-mail address is
[EMAIL PROTECTED] However, I know from experience that he's not
very trustworthy when it comes to answering e-mail - I think you want
to cc me ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) as well so I can push him when necessary
;-) (Sorry Jeff...)

GENERAL THINGS

Newsonic runs on a 386 or higher computer. It needs Expanded Memory
and a 64K DMA buffer. (You can create a 64K DMA buffer with a command
line option when you load the Expanded Memory manager; for EMM386,
this is D=64 -> 'DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE D=64') It also needs a
SoundBlaster or compatible soundcard.
