Indeed... From what I saw now it's orinigaly based on an i286 processor,
athough i386 and i486 versions have appeared. It's primaraly function was to
be a games platform. The Towns-OS is Unix/Linux based. This is the reason
why the the towns-version of fMSX is almost identical to the normal Unix
version.
