I use Multi Mente very often, but I have seen nothing special. It only happens
with a COPY command.

Yes, indeed, one'd expect strange first filenames then too. But I have seen
nothing strange. I'll try to pay attention to it from now on.

Hmm, now that you say it, I can remember that I once had the same error when
copying files with Multi Mente! But I hardly ever do that, because it's so
slow to copy lots of small files with Multi Mente... COPY is a lot faster then.

By the way: this is a WARNING for Multi Mente users: if you have more that 255
files in a directory, Multi Mente will ONLY SHOW THE FIRST 255 ONES!! So, if
you want to delete or copy every file in the dir, you'll miss some! And NEVER
SORT DIRECTORIES OF WHICH YOU KNOW THEY CONTAIN MORE THAT 255 FILES!! That
will go terribly wrong, I think! But there are more bugs in Multi Mente
2.05....
(after having viewed a directory with more that 255 files, the names of that
directory may appear in a dir-listing in another dir too! And with some disks,
you get garbage-files in the dir-listing, although nothing special can be seen
in the directory with e.g. DiskView 2.1. And ofcourse the AUTO SORT function
is totally corrupted!)
