You are missing MSX2+ ROMs. So the BASIC will not support the extra features
of the V9958. Don't use just any ROMs, you probably wouldn't like to get a
Japanese keyboard mapping. But there are many people with modified MSX2+
ROMs in their European MSX2 machines, so getting the right ROMs is not
difficult.

If you want to play games, some of them will work in MSX2+ mode without new
ROMs, some won't. It depends on how the game detects the V9958. Some games
read the VDP version number (they will work with just V9958), some games use
the MSX ID (#002D) in the ROM (they will only work with new ROMs). I looked
through "bios.txt" from Compass and I couldn't see any MSX2+ specific BIOS
routines, so the ID byte is probably all that matters for non-BASIC
programs.

But looking at your configuration, I would say that installing a 720K
floppy drive would be a good idea.

Bye,
                Maarten
