Hi,
I'm sorry for not responding to your (and others) messages, and the site
haven't been updated for ages. I've been to busy.
But I haven't stopped collecting material about Spectravideo,
so expect a major update after the summer. If you have any questions
or suggestions for my site, please e-mail me.
I'm also always looking for Spectravideo hardware/software/documents.
Well, about this MSX Network, I only remember it vaguely from
the good old days so I could be wrong about this.
The SVI-709 MSX Network card uses some kind of serial
transfer for communication. It could be "multi-drop" type RS-485
or RS-422, but it could also be a simple RS-232.
The SVI-609 LAN adapter acts as a host/hub. This adapter
is plugged into an expansion slot in the SVI-605C Super Expander.
The Super Expander is a PC style metal case with several
expansion slots for the SVI-328 computer.
The SVI-605C Super Expander has the following characteristics:
- Centronics Interface
- Floppy disk controller (Western Digital 1793)
- 1 x diskdrive, 5.25", double sided, 40 tracks, 512KB (320KB formatted)
- 1 x harddrive, MFM, 10MB
There's also a picture of this a the funet ftp archive:
http://www.funet.fi/pub/msx/graphics/jpg/hardware/Spectravideo-network.jpg
Does anybody know where it came from?
Regards,
Tomas Karlsson
