MSXers,
I just finished putting on-line a little UZIX update.
The difference is only the bootloader. The problem is with some
DiskROMs, related to stopping the drive. If the drive stops spinning, the
next disk access (by UZIX) returns an error after a long pause. That's why
some users got error messages after entering the login on UZIX or in the
middle of the execution of the login script (logging as root) or, yet,
during TCP/IP module initialization.
The solution is resetting the drive before each disk access. To
enable this option (for Turbo-R machines it's default, 'cause TR DiskROM
also suffer of this problem) just press the spacebar while ZILO loads (it
will display the message 'DiskROM drive reset work-around enabled').
Unfortunately, it slowdowns a lot the system speed. I still didn't
discovered the cause of the error. But I know it also occurs with TR (but,
in this case, resetting the drive before each access doesn't affect the
system speed).
Further details are in the section 'Status' on UZIX page.
