As far as I know, I always separated loading routines from the replayer. The
only DOS2-related thing I added is proper support for the mapper, since the
original MB replayer does an "IN A,(#FE)". My mapper routines auto-detect
DOS1 or DOS2, so they work on both.
Another thing I added is replaying MBM files on a MoonSound, but that's not
DOS2 related.
