Hi Again,
Found something via CastService (www.castservice.com) which is mentioned in
that article. I searched for MSX and found this:
http://www.castservice.com/profile.asp?no=2118&table=tbl_vod_program&main=vo
d
However, I cannot replay Real Media here. So, please take a look at it!
In the meantime I also got a translation of the first three paragraphs of
that article. The rest could not be understood by my Japanese collegue.
It is an interview with a Korean guy called Kim (of course), first name
Namfun (or something)
The first column says:
Q - When did you start using a computer?
A - When I was in elementary school. I started using an MSX. Even now I use
a Sony or Matsushita MSX.
Q - What pcs were used in Korea, before the IBM PC?
A - Almost all pcs were Apple II or MSX. When I was in elementary school, I
used to read MSX Magazine. That magazine was sold in Seoul in secret. To buy
it I had to take the highway bus and the subway. It took me three hours.
Q - Recently there was an MSX event in Japan. MSX is in a revivalboom. What
do you think?
A - In Korea there was also an MSX meeting, so we communicate with Japanese
users. Every 2 years we have an event in Korea. (MB: now the subject turns,
which I do not follow!) But in Korea, ROms were very expensive. We loaded
them from tape or Megarompacks (MB: whatever that might be! Some sort of
MegaRAM?). That took 30 or 40 minutes. I had to wait and sit in front of my
pc. (MB: thus, his MSX) And sometimes it failed to load. At the time Yun MB:
whoever that is?) was working on MSX at Daewoo and now he is the 2nd
president of CastService. I also work at that company.
There it ends. The rest I hope to get from other people...
The link above I found from the www.castservice.com site. Indeed a Korean
site. They seem to cooperate with AkibaTV, which was also present on MSX
Den-Yu Land 2000.
Help!
Best regards,
Manuel
