Grauw is exaggerating. For example both my parents do not speak English. And
I know several other people in NL (and in Belgium) that do not speak English.
But indeed, many people in NL do speak English as a second language.
But I also noticed during my on holiday in Japan a couple of years ago, that
the number of people being able to speak English was very very rare.
Surprisingly rare. Apparently, the Japanese language is that far away from
English (or other indo-european languages), that it is very difficult for the
Japanese to learn English.
