Hello all,
here's a saturday night MSX fever report! :-)
We (Manuel Bilderbeek & Eric Boon) are trying to install Uzix
on a ZIP disk using the Novaxis SCSI interface.
System:
MSX2, 1 MB internally
Novaxis setup: extended partitions enabled
ZIP disk:
partitions
Nr WID Type Sectors MB name
1 7 Fat12(MSX) 16384 8.0000 boot
2 7 Fat12(MSX) 61440 30.0000 uzix1
3 7 Fat12(MSX) 61440 30.0000 Partition 3
4 7 Fat12(MSX) 57340 27.998 Partition 4
1st try:
a: contains dos2
setup.com/dat installed in a:\uzix, run "setup a:\uzix" and then, "install"
selected everything.
'Other diskinterface' <-- because Novaxis is not MegaSCSI
FROM: A:
TO: B:
partition number: 2
partition selection command: 'echo hello' <-- We don't need a command
to select the partition. Entering nothing gave an error :-/
partition size: accepted default
Advanced settings were let alone: none of the option were selected.
Then, the filesystem was made on b:, which seemed to work ok, also
the fsck B: did not report any errors.
But, when the installation program started to make directories and
wanted to install all the programs on them, we got errors like this:
cd /etc
failure exit
The, back in the installation script, A: on partition 1 was selected as
boot partition (obviously), UZLO installed and ran ok, but reported
'partition is not UZIX' (or similar).
2nd try:
Selected 'PC (old) type' partitions (that's only 4 primary partitions).
Same partitioning scheme.
Looked pretty much the same but UZLO hangs after showing
'Loading uzix................'
fsck did not reveal any failures though ! ??
Now it's 0:17 and we don't feel like trying anyhing else anymore ;-)
We guess that UZIX doesn't handle any Novaxis' partitioning scheme
well enough...
