I also have a Sony HB-F700, and exactly the same thing happened to me
yesterday ! I was really anxious, but then I saw that a floppy was in the
drive ( with msx programs ), but the floppy was initially formatted under
ms-dos, that was the reason the computer hung.
I removed the floppy and everything was back to normal again... PFEWWW....
