Yes, big EPROMS which are mapped into a  memory by a swich.
 
No, a 9958 vdp, which is (besides a sprite anomaly) completely transparant to vdp9938 MSX2 aware programs

Just wondering. The 8280 with msx 2 / 2+ both build in. Is it done by piggybacking aal the chips and having a switchable powe circuit to the relevant rom- and vpd chips?
