Almost everything most MSX'ers do is non-commercial. Look at the work put
in to UZIX, that has to be fenominal!
Maybe it's typical dutch to take stuff for granted and not personally tell
someone thanks, but that does not mean it isn't appreciated.
I know looking from the reaction I got for GEM. And although I've recieved
almost nothing about tniASM, I'm sure people use it and are happy with it.

I don't know who accused you of that, but look at TFH selling file-hunter
CD's, or Omega selling Funet CD's. In my opinion and I think most others
that's perfectly fine!
Either you pay the telephone company for costs of downloading, or pay you
for your effort and material costs, there's no difference.

Come on, I was there on #msx when it happened. It was a joke, BiFi even put
a ";-)" smiley face after it. That's an important detail!
And IRC is mostly just kidding around, I remember such remarks being made
when I released a new version of GEM or tniASM. It's harmless teasing.
So please, don't stop! I recognize the time and effort put in your website,
and I'm sure everyone truly appreciates your work even if the information
does not directly benefit them.
If I may qoute Monty Python here:
"Some things in life are bad, they can really make you mad. Other things
just make you swear and curse. When you're chewing on life's gristle, don't
grumble, give a whistle! And this'll help things turn out for the best..."
