I definately support your idea. I can even offer some assistance! About a 
year ago I wrote some MMU routines, with complete support for virtual 
memory, memory protection and memory swapping.
Those routines are already written in MSX BASIC so can be easily integrated 
into your new OS.

Besides that, I think I have some Z80 microcode around here that adds 64KB 
high-speed instruction and data cache to any Z80 processor. It should work 
on MSX too! The only drawback is, you need to apply high voltage to the CPU 
to rewrite its processing paths, so it's not a software-only solution.
