Was it driva A:? when not, you could have tried to copy msxdos2.sys and
command2.com to the a:-drive.

Fdisk is a real harddisk killer... I know, I have also made mistakes with
fdisk...
I forgot to use the right scsi-id as the option for fdisk. When low-level
formatting the harddisk I lost all my data and the harddisk which needed the
low-level formatting still did not function properly...

It is indeed very important to get the scsi-id and the termination right.
although, I can tell you stories about very weird incorrect configurations
that did work and the theoretically correct configuration did not work...
