The first CARTRIDGE upgrade was the NEOS (above), in 1986 I think. Ademir created first the internal "Kits" for upgrade. And an MSX2+ expansion with FM in 1992 (in only 1 cartridge). The cartridge has de V9958 and is recommended remove the MSX1 VDP and ROMs to work fine. Works fine in Expert and Hotbit, but I didn't tested it on others MSX1 computers.
