The smaller table lists MSX computers which cannot be used together with the
ER-101. That provides an immediate explanation for the problems the original
poster reported about.

Anyway, Enrico's friend might be interested in the following info, taken
from the ER-101 userguide:

MSX personal computers which can be connected to the ER-101
Canon V-10
Canon V-20
Sanyo MPC-5
Sanyo PHC-30
Toshiba HX-10S/SA
Toshiba HX-10D
Toshiba HX-10DP
Toshiba HX-10DPN
Hitachi MB-H1
Hitachi MB-H1E
Victor HC-6
Fujitsu FM-X
Matsushita CF-2000
Mitsubishi ML-F110
Mitsubishi ML-F120
Mitsubishi ML-F120D
Yamaha YIS-503
Yamaha YIS-303
Yamaha CX-5
Yamaha CX-5F

MSX personal computers which cannot be connected to the ER-101:
Sony HB-55
Sony HB-75
Sanyo MPC-10
Sanyo MPC-11
Mitsubishi ML-8000
General PCT-50
Matsushita CF-3000

The above mentioned machines were all introduced to the Japanese market by
September 1984. The manual does not address compatibility issues of newer
machines and/or machines designed for the non-Japanese market. I've been
told by a friend that the ER-101 unfortunately is incompatible with both
Turbo-R models.

Hope that this info helps to make full use of the ER-101.

Happy laserdiscing,

Bernard Lamers
