From my testing: - it seems Git for Windows already implemented such change - it seems that MSYS2 processes will set TERM=cygwin on initialization if no TERM is set - mintty has a facility for setting correct TERM=xterm* for itself Is there any downside to removing the line from /etc/profile? -- David Macek
