I can't give you much advice for programming with *curses, as you already know. 
I can maybe give you advice for compiling with *curses and running with 
*curses, if there's a specific problem.

Okay, I won't continue that discussion although I don't share your opinion 
about it being a waste of time (and maybe not even off-topic).
