Issue 125: gitk crashes when quit while reading

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Run gitk on your (large) working tree.
2. While the status is "Reading" and the row count is going up, quit gitk
by clicking on the window's "X" button.
3. Watch the "Wish Application has encountered a problem and needs to
close" crash dialog.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I would gitk / wish expect not to crash, but it does.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
$ git --version
git version 1.5.6.1062.g7b17c
on Windows XP Prof. SP3 32-bit.
Please provide any additional information below.
I guess this was introduced with the improvements to gitk since git 1.5.5.
