Hi Mike,
I don't understand why you had to build and install swig? For me this  
wasn't necessary at all. The generated swig files (i.e. the *.c from  
the *.i files) are included in the subversion tarball already, so they  
don't need to be regenerated during build unless the swig version used  
by the subversion packagers has any known windows issues, but I don't  
know about any.

Hence, I think the git-svn branch should work without

just as well.
