Dear MT-listers, As we know, MT systems have been shown to be efficient for certain types of technical documentation. What I am now interesting in knowing is if there are academic research projects that have attempted (or are currently attempting) to use any type of MT approach for the translation of literary works. I am not aware of any, but I would like to know if anyone else knows of such projects. Professional Literary translators (at least those on the main translation discussion lists) are not in favor of MT systems for their translation tasks, for obvious reasons. But if someone on the MT-list knows of a case where there is an interest to translate literary works with an MT system (either for inbound-acquisition or outbound-dissemination purposes), I would like to know more about it.
