For Mac UI files, the only reliable tool available is PowerGlot
(http://www.powerglot.com), by PowerGlot Software. This is the commercial
version of its free, yet now unsupported predecessor AppleGlot. Like most UI
tools, its TM mainly uses database ID for "dumb" linking rather than
text-based fuzzy pattern matching. Still, it allows for WYSIWYG dialog
resizing, reporting and is scriptable.

The only thing I can suggest for localizing other file types on the Mac is
to buy an emulator (like Virtual PC or Soft Windows) and run the Win-based
TM tools on that. This is expensive however, as the RAM requirements on your
Mac go way up with the emulators, not to mention the memory overhead just of
Windows and the TM tools themselves. Unfortunately, you also have to invest
in a parallel port (installs in PCI slot) to accommodate the hardware keys
that Windows-based TM tools rely on.

When all is said and done, it's cheaper to buy a reasonable PC for $600.
There was a brief glimmer of hope when Apple came out with a hybrid
604e/Pentium PowerMac 7300 a couple of years ago -- an actual native Pentium
processor right inside -- but they never continued it.

Good luck!

Subject: [MT-List] Translation tools

I am a translator in Sweden working on a Macintosh.

Are there any translatio tools (like Trados, Transit or DejaVu) for the
Macintosh platform?

Best regards
