The computer science department of the University of Le Mans (LIUM)
welcomes applications for a postdoc position in Statistical machine
translation. The initial contract will be for one year, but an extension
of up to three years is possible. The position is immediately available
and applications are accepted until the position is filled. Salary
starts at 32.500 Euro, in function of qualification and experience.

LIUM performs research on new machine learning algorithms applied to
statistical machine translation. Topics of interest are continuous space
language and translation models, discriminative and unsupervised training,
adaptation techniques, etc. We are mainly working on the translation of
French, Arabic and Mandarin. Fluency in one of these languages is a plus,
but not a necessary condition. The working language is English (or French
;-)

LIUM has successfully participated in recent international evaluations, in
particular NIST'08 and WMT'08. We are involved in large international
research projects and cooperate with several European research institutes.
A large high performance cluster is available to support the research.

Le Mans is located in between Paris and the Atlantic ocean (both reachable
in less than 1 hours by high speed train), near the Loire valley with many
wineries, outdoor activities, etc.

Applications should be sent by email to Holger Schwenk
([EMAIL PROTECTED]), including CV, list of publications,
2 or 3 most relevant publications and the names of two referees.
