The Centre for Next Generation Localisation (CNGL http://www.cngl.ie/), School of Computing, Dublin City University, Ireland, is looking for an MT Research and Language Technology Liaison Officer responsible for (i) the coordination of external liaison with and building a network of Language Technology stakeholders, and (ii) carrying out focused MT experiments.

The position is fixed term, initial contract one year, extension to three years subject to performance review. Starting date: February 1st, 2009.

Ideal candidates have

* a research degree (MSc, PhD) in NLP, in particular MT, or related discipline; * research and/or industrial expertise in NLP, in particular MT, or related discipline;
* excellent communication skills;
* excellent command of English (written and spoken);
* excellent team working skills;
* the ability to plan, carry out and evaluate short focused research projects (MT); * the ability to plan, coordinate, execute and continuously evaluate outreach, promotion and community building activities across a diverse set of stakeholders, include language technology provider and user industries (translation and localisation industry), research and development centres, language technology research communities, national and European government and funding agencies, language and on-line communities; * (possibly) a track record in outreach, external liaison and promotion activities.

The successful candidate will be located as part of a large MT team at CNGL, Dublin City University, Ireland, lead by Prof. Andy Way and Prof. Josef van Genabith.
