Dear All, I'm pleased to release a document studying theories, systems and designs of native language-driven foreign language learning.
Key points: "L1-driven L2 teaching" is a method which lets a browser extension insert foreign language micro-lessons into the native language Web page you're browsing. It can be further divided into two paradigms: (1) "Topic-oriented teaching" is to insert foreign language micro-lessons relevant to the topic of the Web page you're browsing. (2) "Word-oriented teaching" is to insert foreign language micro-lessons, each specifically targeting a certain word of the Web page you're browsing. Obviously, word-oriented teaching will involve word sense disambiguation (a technique in natural language processing and machine translation), while topic-oriented teaching doesn't. Both will be the future of second language teaching.
