Dear Mikel, dear all MT-listers, 10/1/14
happy new year 2014!
It seems that web-sed and in particular
cloud-based MT is increasingly used as
"translation accelerator" for dissemination
purposes (see report by B. Pouliquen on MT at
WIPO and at the UN).
There is a problem in the formulation of your
question. What is "majority usage"? The number of
persons accessing a service, the duration, the
economic impact...
Best,

Dear MT-listers:
I am writing a report and I want to argue that
assimilation (gisting, comprehension) is
currently the majority usage of online (and
perhaps all) machine translation today, and that
machine translation for dissemination is not the
main usage anymore. However, I have not been
successful in locating hard evidence for that.
If there is such evidence (paper, report, etc.)
I am sure this is the right place to ask, and I
would be really really grateful to receive a
pointer to it!
Thanks a million
All the best
Mikel
