We are looking for an Assistant Professor in Speech and/or Speech
Technology at the University of Groningen, The Netherlands.

This position combines research on speech and/or speech technology and
teaching. Teaching responsibilities will include, for example, general
programming courses and thesis supervisions.

Your research will be embedded in the Computational Linguistics research
group of the Center for Language and Cognition Groningen (CLCG,
https://www.rug.nl/let/clcg), in particular in the Speech Lab Groningen
(SLG, https://www.speechlabgroningen.nl). The SLG has state-of-the-art
(computational) equipment available for use, including a dual-A100 Nvidia
GPU server, and the one-of-a-kind mobile laboratory SPRAAKLAB (
http://www.rug.nl/let/spraaklab) to collect acoustic and articulatory data
in the field. Furthermore, within the CLCG there are ample opportunities
for interdisciplinary collaborations. To fund your own innovative research
line, you are expected to acquire external research funding.

Successful applicants are expected to have a PhD in the field of
(Computational) Linguistics, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science or a
comparable field with a focus on the investigation and analysis of speech
(articulation) and/or speech technology. A strong quantitative /
computational background and a solid track record on speech and/or speech
technology is required. It is considered a plus if research experience
regarding speech and/or speech technology dovetails with the research
currently conducted in the Speech Lab Groningen. In that case, candidates
can co-supervise SLG PhD students.
