All you need to do to participate is email me so that I can give you the GitHub access for the data and invite to the Slack channel. We announce ongoing updates on the Slack channel and answer questions. Some individuals also use it to find teams which are permitted.
The contest is open to everyone and you can use outside data, you just need to share what you are using on slack with the group. We have weekly office hours on Friday mornings (9AM Pacific) and if folks need more support we are happy to help.
