Actually, yeah, I see something similar when continuing a draft. I hardly ever save drafts, so I don't run into it very often, but when I do, continuing the draft is often problematic. Sometimes only an empty line is inserted at the top, sometimes parts of the text are deleted and a second --text-- line is inserted, as you describe.
