It seems you're trying to combine to separate things: mu/mu4e's built-in
contact handling, and org-contacts.

These days, I'd recommend using mu4e's built-in support, as I've found
org-contact unusably slow when there are a lot of contacts -- ie., I
tried with a contacts.org with 1000 or so contacts (using mu-guile to
create it).
