Just integrated this now, but discovered that new frames did not obey the
Emacs default font setting.
Fix for those who might come across the same issue:

(set-default-font "-misc-fixed-medium-r-semicondensed-*")
(add-to-list 'default-frame-alist
'(font . "-misc-fixed-medium-r-semicondensed-*"))
