I don't know what issue do you have with clicking them, that works fine. Stylesheets work fine as well, here is the documentation on them: http://wiki.mudlet.org/w/Manual:Introduction#Colouring_.26_customizing_buttons
You can call Lua scripts from buttons, when the big scripting box for the button shows.
