Would not make enabling the toolButtonBar dependent on the profile dialogue box being closed by the Connect button go some way towards squishing this bug. The attached patch does just that and it works nicely for me - even if the CLOSE button is pressed the toolbar does not get enabled - only if the Connect one is used.
