Hard to tell. Between the https://github.com/Mudlet/Mudlet/commit/ace765f6c414b9baf64fed707793132ed8487a22 commit mentioning something about the function (it doesn't make sense - we don't break backwards compatibility, this function is needed) and https://github.com/Mudlet/Mudlet/commit/4e651d55fd7a73af24fe66ae3d85e9e5b13a1fc5 actually taking it out (githubs viewer isn't amazing either apparently, for too many changes it simply doesn't display them). The intent between the latter commit is hard pinpoint as it just mentions "safe mapper" as the commit line.
