It's interesting to keep reading stuff like that when we have been rather
successful for the past decade.

If it's possible, maybe I would like to know how the older ones behaved
during the 1973-74 season?

There should be 3 stages:
1) United kept losing (feeling: angry/frustrated/moaning)
2) United in mid season, no signs of improving (feeling:
hopeful/praying/frustrated)
3) United doomed (feelings: sad/disappointed)

Can I safely assume that the supporters who went through that period were
saying "ah, no biggie" throughout? You did not complain, get yourself drunk
in the pubs, scolding players/Doc underneath your breath etc?

I'm just asking out of curiosity because the worst the new fans have
experienced is like last season and early this season. We might do a Leeds
in future, who knows.

A supporter's duty is to support, not lambast. Naturally, if a
players down and receives encouragement from the fans, then this will
motivate him to set things right. It is the job of the coach and
manager, not the supporters, to criticize the performances of
players. Yet, even then, the criticism should be constructive.
Unfortunately, as you say, sOme supporters just look at things in
terms what wasn't accomplished as opposed to what was. They should
count their blessings since there are many supporters of others club
that may be without a team in the future.
