> Man Utd v West Ham. Could be worse. At least we're at home. But West Ham aren't wasting any time ... they've just agreed a fee for Lee Bowyer:
Hammers agree fee for Bowyer Monday January 6, 2003 Leeds have agreed an undisclosed fee with West Ham for midfielder Lee Bowyer. Bowyer, who would have been out of contract at Elland Road this summer, had turned down a new deal with Leeds and will discuss personal terms with the Hammers today. Legal bills arising from his much-publicised trial for affray were believed to be a sticking point in any potential move. But Leeds confirmed they have agreed a plan for Bowyer to repay those bills if he returns to London. A statement on the club website said: "Lee Bowyer has told Leeds United he will not sign the contract currently on offer to him at Leeds and would therefore be leaving the club this summer. "In the light of these circumstances we have agreed to transfer Lee Bowyer to West Ham United for an undisclosed fee. "Lee will be having contract talks with West Ham later today."
