FERGUSON URGES UNITED TO CONCENTRATE ON BIGGER PIC

Ferguson urges United to concentrate on bigger picture
MANCHESTER, England (Reuters) - Alex Ferguson has told his players not to be
sidetracked by Sunday's Manchester derby against City and concentrate on their title
bid. "We don't need motivation for any game. We are on a charge towards the
championship," the Manchester United manager told reporters. "We are three points
behind Arsenal and the players are well aware of the importance of every game. It
doesn't matter whether it is Manchester City or any other team, the important thing is
to get three points.

"We are very aware of how important this game is to the fans. But we have to separate
things a little bit here because our main aim is the league. "We have to put thoughts
of the derby on the back-burner because the three points on Sunday would put us on the
road to winning the league." Ferguson said on Friday that he had a lot of admiration
for the work Kevin Keegan had done at Manchester City.

Keegan guided City into the premier league in his first season and had now set his
sights on winning a European place. "They have had a good season. Kevin has done well.
He has brought a lot of players in," the United manager added. "He has shown his
ambition for the team to bring these players in and I think they will be safe enough
this year.

"They will attack. That is Kevin's way. They will have a go and that is fine. It will
make it an open match and that will benefit the fans." United will be looking for
revenge on City after crashing 3-1 at Maine Road in the league in November. They have
won their last six games. City lie 10th with 37 points.
