Hi all What a game. 3 points was what we wanted and what we got (and deserved as well).
Juve played really well and battled for everything. If they were a bit more prolific in front of goal, this might have been a much closer contest. Amonst others, Zalayeta impressed me most and he looks like a future prospect. He is very strong, good in the air, dribbles well and has pace. I knew that after the early goal United would sit back and absorb the pressure - why do they have to do this? I was hoping we don't get a repeat of the latest Manchester derby. The performance improved greatly in the second half resulting in a good win. Juve was lucky not to have their keeper sent off. Next week ... it would be interesting to see what Fergie has planned for the rest of the CL campaign. We need one draw to clinch qualification (for 7th straight season) to the quarter-finals - is there an advantage to top the group? We have the Worthington Cup final next weekend so Fergie might want to rest a few players (why not the whole first team?) and go for the victory against Basel to clinch qualification. The thought of trying to win next week against Juve and attempt to keep them from qualifying is too huge a task for us and I think they will comfortably qualify even if we beat them next week. Fergie looked sick before kick-off ... flu perhaps? Beckham was head and shoulders man of the match and he showed his appreciation to the crowd after the game. O'Shea again showed his talents in the second half. Giggs had a goodish game and was very willing to try things - he's getting there. Ruud's shirt giveaway was classic - imagine he does this after each time he scores - the megastore will not have to stock any of his shirts.
