> I don't believe this. Rivaldo was on the bench the entire game! He
wasn't even 1 of the 3 subs.

I think he's been on the Milan bench for some time. He got injured half way
through the season and Inzaghi took his place alongside Shevchenko and more
or less stayed there. It was an excellent first half yesterday but the
second half and extra time were typical Italian defensive stuff with both
sides apparently putting their hope in penalties.

If UEFA did cheat (as Fergie claimed) by pairing United with Real early on
in order to prevent the 'home' side appearing in the final, then it all
backfired horribly by ultimately producing an all-Italian final. A Real -
United final would have been a brilliant one. (Incidentally, I was a bit
surprised that Fergie did claim the quarter-final draw had been a fix. Not
because UEFA aren't capable of cheating (they are!) but because it seemed to
be sending the signal that Real would knock us out. Not a great message to
send to your players before the first leg, and, as it turned out, we did
look overawed in the Bernabeu.)

Does anybody like the look of any of the players who played yesterday? Most
of the action took place in the first half when Davids, Zambrotta and
Shevchenko all looked worthy to play at Old Trafford on a more permanent
basis. In the rest of the game, nobody stood out for me.

Did anybody catch a faint rendering of the John O'Shea song last night about
3 minutes before the end of normal time? There must have been a few United
fans in there.
