Hi all, watched the MLS game today between Metro and DC @ DC.
Too bad Tim wasnt challenged hard today, he let in 2 but they were good goals
from DC (one was a penalty). He looks like a solid 'keeper, I wouldnt be
suprised if the wizard platoons him with Fab for the duration.
Silly stuff going on here in MLS. I was under the impression all footy
leagues had to follow FIFA rules but the MLS has an overtime deal if tied at 90, and
todays game was a 2-2. Overtime here is 2 times 5 mins and in fact Metro won
with a goal in the second ot by a 16 year old, and he didnt make
"man-o-th-match"!! Tim did!!!!!!!!
Anyways, sillyness, and the summer schedule aside, this MLS business is
bloody aweful soccer in my humble. Tim might do well, and some players have made it
to Engerland. But I can tell you, this footy is not quality. I am suprised
FIFA ranked US one place behind Engerland recently, I suppose they are better
as a national unit, but the league play is akin to schoolboy. IMHO.
Steve.
(comments here from soccernet:WASHINGTON - Sixteen-year-old Eddie Gaven, the
second-youngest player in MLS history, scored his first career goal in the
ninth minute of overtime to lift the MetroStars past D.C. United 3-2 Saturday. )
