Steve Bower usually does the MUTV commentary with
the 'unbiased' Paddy alongside him (-;
I think if I lived in the US I would end up with
the sound off if that is representative of the
usual fare!
Heard of Chinaglia in the 70s, but I don't think he
was ever top drawer.

Thats really strange....
Watching in the US we also had a sound feed disruption
and for a very short
minutes we were treated to Paddy Crerand and someone
else (thought I'd died
and
gone to heaven). What you heard was not Tommy Smyth
but two who are just as
bad
(if thats possible) Max Bretos (exaggerated accents
and all) and Giorgio
Chinaglia, an Italian who used to play for the NY
Cosmos. Both of them added
together know about as much about the game as my dog.
Both are as equally
offensive to the ear as Tommy Smyth and are about as
entertaining as the
Liverpool strike force.
Chinaglia is treated as a world class hero here
in the US (not by anyone
who knows the game) because of his exploits in the old
NASL league (that died)
he was all time leading goalscorer, started his
playing days with Cardiff
City,
then went to Lazio and played for Italy 14 times. He
was basically crap, but
talks and acts like the only authority in Football.
I have no idea why Fox Sports seems to think
they know anything about
the
game, same goes for ESPN who actually pay Tommy Smyth
for his "colour"
commentary, if you can call it that.
