TEN OF THE BEST: UTD V ARSENAL

Arsenal 4-5 Man Utd (Feb 1, 1958)
As their last game on English soil, this enthralling victory will forever be
remembered as a fitting tribute to the 'Busby Babes', eight of whom died five days
later in Munich.

Arsenal 4-0 Man Utd (Aug 22, 1970)
A John Radford hat-trick sealed this crushing win at Highbury, launching Arsenal's
assault on their first League and FA Cup double. Wonder goal: Ryan Giggs rounds off a
splendid run with the winning goal in the 1999 FA Cup semi-final replay

Arsenal 3-2 Man Utd (FA Cup final, 1979)
In what was termed the 'Five Minute Final', Arsenal watched United claw back a
two-goal deficit in the final minutes, but were saved by a dramatic winner from Alan
Sunderland, virtually the last kick of the match.

Man Utd 0-1 Arsenal (Oct 20, 1990)
Previous animosity came to a head as an altercation beween Winterburn and McClair
spiralled into a free-for-all. Just "handbags at dawn" claimed Ferguson, but the FA
disagreed, docking Arsenal two points and United one.

Man Utd 6-2 Arsenal (Nov 28, 1990, Rumbelows Cup, 4th rd)
Less controversial than their last meeting, but more significant, the United goal-fest
- including a hat-trick from Lee Sharpe - marked the arrival of United's dominance
under Ferguson.

Arsenal 2-2 Man Utd (Mar 22, 1994)
In another highly-charged tussle, Eric Cantona was sent off for the second time in
three days, only to return from suspension in inspired form to guide United to their
first Double.

Arsenal 3-2 Man Utd (Nov 9, 1997)
Arsenal seized the initiative in this Highbury thriller, leading 2-0 at the interval.
But a brace from Teddy Sheringham, the man all Arsenal fans love to hate, brought
United level, only for their efforts to be rendered futile by a fine Platt header.

Man Utd 2-1 Arsenal (April 14, 1999, FA Cup semi-final replay)
Treble-chasing United faced double-chasing Arsenal. One hundred and twenty
incident-packed minutes included Keane's sending off, Arsenal's disallowed winner,
Schmeichel's 90th-minute penalty save from Bergkamp - all ultimately eclipsed by
Giggs's fierce winner (pictured) to finish his memorable waltz through the Arsenal
defence.

Man Utd 6-1 Arsenal (Feb 25, 2001)
"Everything went wrong," Wenger reflected. Even with the Frenchman's notoriously
selective vision, there was no hiding from the truth. A 20 minute hat-trick from Yorke
put paid to any lingering hopes of Arsenal's championshp challenge. They headed back
to London 16 points adrift.

Man Utd 0-1 Arsenal (May 8, 2002)
Arsenal went to Old Trafford looking for a re-run of their 1998 title-clinching
victory. And the 'Theatre of Dreams' duly repeated the nightmare for United, as
Wiltord scored to put the championship beyond doubt.
